London Palestine Action lead a colourful karaoke protest outside of the BBC’s headquarters in London on Friday February 8th right before the BBC aired “You Decide”, a programme selecting Britain's representative for Eurovision 2019.
The musical protest led by Palestinian artists, musicians, and activists, and supported by allies called on the BBC to withdraw from Eurovision 2019 so as to not participate in the Israeli government’s art-washing of its ongoing crimes against Palestinians.
The protestors sang along to Palestine solidarity versions of pop hits with lyrics re-written to criticise Israel’s violations of human rights and emphasize the importance of boycotting the Israeli government which uses cultural events to gloss over its war crimes against Palestinians.
